Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones Arya Stark) says the filming of the scene was 'extremely awkward'
It's not awkward at all when an actress films a sex scene, even if she had her 18th birthday just two moths before that. It gets slightly awkward when you realize there were people just waiting for her to grow up and take her cloths off. It doesn't help that the character she's best known for, Arya Stark is very underage. Maisie Williams, was cast as a student at an all-girl school in upcoming movie The Falling, set in the 1960s. The movie includes a controversial scene in which Williams’ character Lydia loses her virginity. Maisie had this to say to Vulture about filming the scene: 'It was extremely awkward! But (co-star) Joe (Cole) was very sensitive to the fact that I had never done a scene like this before, and it was great to work with someone who was so considerate of that. We went out for a couple of lunches and stuff just to get to know each other, and we had days of rehearsal where we’d get to know our characters and spend a couple of hours with each other. So I knew him quite well, and we got along quite well. It all paid off in the end.' As Maisie explains she wanted to do this movie because it was very different from Game of Thrones. 'The reason I wanted to play Lydia in the first place was that she’s such a different character than Arya. When I look at scripts, I always worry that the director isn’t going to see past me playing Arya Stark or that sort of character. So I fought for this role, and (the director) was really open to letting me try out. She really gave me a chance, and I’m so grateful for that. But I wanted to prove myself.' WIlliams will also appear in new episodes of Doctor Who.
